Overview:
Wilderness Canoe Base is located near the end of the gunflint trail on Seagull Lake.  The camp is located on two separate islands with very difficult site conditions such as large boulders and bedrock with very hilly terrain.  Portions of this system are used in winter.

Solution:

• Materials such as sand, rock, tanks, and cover material, and equipment were hauled over the ice.
• Puraflo peat modules were used to treat the wastewater on this sensitive site.
• Collection lines were installed with heat trace wire and insulation, the tanks were insulated to prevent freezing in the winter.
• A jackhammer on an excavator was used to break frost and bedrock
