Bay Lake Camp: Deerwood, MN
Overview:
Bay Lake Camp is a church camp located on an island on Bay Lake. Due to the site conditions, standard installation techniques would have made the installation almost impossible. The camp has many buildings to be connected to the system with a variety of different uses including a staff building, kitchen, shower building, and dormitories.
Solution:
- Since the camp is located on an island, equipment and materials were brought over on a barge.
- Fiberglass tanks up to 6000 gallons in size were used since hauling concrete tanks of that size to the island would have been very difficult.
- Infiltrator chambers were used on the four soil dispersal fields to eliminate the need for drainfield rock.
- The kitchen waste is pretreated using two aerobic treatment units.
